The Corporate Machine’s Propaganda Department?
Although I consistently find that the Ron Paul 2008 campaign is either underreported, or not reported at all, on traditional media outlets (even on web news services), it is, nevertheless, not the intent of this blog to simply shame the various networks and news reporters. It is also my intention to make a good faith plea, for the more scrupulous media outlets, to demonstrate their commitment to journalistic fairness, by at least ATTEMPTING to give the Ron Paul campaign a fair shake in their political coverage (which I don’t judge has been the case up till now).
Because this is one purpose of this blog, I will be making posts from time to time, to suggest some ideal topics FOR good news stories related to Ron Paul’s campaign message. Perhaps, the real problem is, that the networks just can’t THINK of good news stories to do on Ron Paul??? : ) But is that really the place of media outlets, to be creating feature news stories related to campaign messages?
Ask that question to CNN Headline News!
Just today, I witnessed Christian Amanpour creating a feature news story out of part of the Mitt Romney campaign message! She was conducting man-on-the-street interviews–stopping drivers in their cars and SUVs–to ask them what they thought about Mit Romney’s suggestion, that we should all stop driving SUVs! That’s all fine and good, to bounce off of Mit Romney’s message. I don’t object in the slightest, if news outlets decide to create feature stories out of various campaign topics.
But I DO wonder, in all fairness, which candidate actually deserves that kind of FREE AIR TIME for their message more; a candidate already loaded with his or her own money, and who already has wide name recognition, or a candidate–equally as worthy–who has not yet been given a truly fair shake by the media, and who must rely almost totally on grassroots support for fund raising, and also for spreading his or her message?
Is it now a requirement of our political system, that a candidate MUST be beholden to the special interests, in order to be given a fair public hearing!? And is there no decency left in our media outlets–which serve as the modern public forum–to promote true democracy, by giving a fair shake to the underdogs? Or are THEY too, completely and unabashedly controlled, by the special interests, like stringed marionette puppets!? It will be a sad day, indeed, when the press loses ALL capacity to be the unbiased eyes and ears of “We the People,” and instead, becomes little more, than the bought and paid for PROPAGANDA DEPARTMENT for giant corporate machines!
Did I touch on a SORE SPOT!?
Appearances CAN mislead. However, it DOES look suspiciously, like CNN has crossed over the line from unbiased journalism, to climb into bed with the big party special interests , and that they design to play favorites in the ‘08 election cycle, in order to help their puppet front runners suppress all of the threatening stringless upstarts! But judge for yourself, if there are not equally worthy topics emanating from Dr. Paul, a true scholar and a statesman, who has been championing his message of LIFE AND LIBERTY, come rain or come shine (AS TRUE AS THE NEEDLE TO THE POLE), going all the way back to the 1950s!
Hey . . . That’s not such a bad campaign slogan, to compete with time-serving, flip-flopping political politicians:
“As True As The Needle To the Pole!”
