Exceptions to the Rule of MSM Suppression
Although across the broad spectrum of the mainstream media (MSM), Ron Paul’s campaign has more often than not been blatantly ignored when it should, in fairness, have been part of many stories and news reports; nevertheless, there have been a few notable exceptions, so far, to this thought embargo–even occasionally on media outlets that have proven to be the most hostile toward Ron Paul.
Unfortunately, the coverage has, even in these few exceptions, mostly only occurred when there has been a debate, in which case it becomes difficult to completely ignore Paul, since a few of his positions stand out like the proverbial sore thumb, compared to the party line conformity of his opponents.
The ONE real story that a few have actually noticed, is what should have been noticed far more–if the “Dean Machine” in the ‘04 election gives us any perspective–that is, the massive Internet and grass roots following Ron Paul has inspired.
To show my own “fairness” and “balance”, I wanted to say thank you for those rare exceptions to the media’s usual attempts to ignore Paul, by posting a sampling of videos available of these few interviews, below.
As you will see by the samples, in many of these spots, coverage of Paul, by itself, still does NOT get some news programs off the hook for journalistic bias, as there is often a transparent unwarranted hostility toward Paul–not equally shown to other candidates–in the way he is treated during interviews (Bill O’Reilly is a classic example–see A History Lesson for Bill O’Reilly). There is also often a not-so-subtle dismissive style of attack–rather than allowing viewers/listeners to make up their own minds, whether to take Paul seriously–the classic example being the George Stephanopoulos interview, which I include at bottom of this post (also see Thank You Christian Science Monitor!). This dismissive quality comes across, even with those surprise personalities to whom I would give honorable mention, such as Neil Cavuto, who–in spite of a harsh grilling of Paul about his taxation views–has surprisingly, given some fair coverage to Paul more than just once in the past, and has even entertained a few of Paul’s ideas on his program with short, but serious, discussion.
THANK YOU MSNBC “MORNING JOE” FOR A VERY FAIR INTERVIEW!
THANK YOU MIKE GALLAGHER FOR THE EXCELLENT TREATMENT OF RON PAUL!
THANK YOU FOX “BIG STORY” FOR LETTING PAUL SPEAK (PRIOR TO A DEBATE).
Here is the famous Stephanopoulos interview:
