The Most Damning Indictment of the Mainstream Media
Although online news stories about Ron Paul may be proliferating, there is a broad spectrum of traditional media that has hardly ever even acknowledged Ron Paul’s existence, if at all.
As you know, I have tried to give credit where credit is due, in a number of previous posts to this blog, and I am not ungrateful for the coverage that HAS been given to Ron Paul (even when show hosts are hostile–it still draws attention to Paul’s message of liberty). Yet, I am frequently reminded that there remains–at least in MY part of the country–a damning indictment against the mainstream media (MSM) market.
What is the most damning indictment of the MSM??? It relates to the media’s proper function, as the eyes and ears of “We, the People.” It is . . . that the populous in a democratic country, is still not even AWARE of their political options!
Here’s the rub:
I still run into people all of the time, who tell me, “I’ve never even HEARD about Ron Paul as a candidate . . . who is Ron Paul?”
The reason for this, is that these people–the same whom the red-lining election pollsters are calling up to get their “poll numbers”–depend on very limited media sources for all of their information. They may only pick up the airwaves of ABC and NBC, for instance, or they may even depend entirely on radio for their news–and the MSM KNOWS IT.
The particular media outlets, which cover these broad swaths of our populous, essentially hold a monopoly of thought and information. A very few outlets CONTROL the TOTAL awareness of millions of American households, regarding elections, candidates and issues. THAT is why it becomes so inexcusable, in a democracy, for us to just sit back–be good little boys and girls–and allow these elite media monopolies to get away with a less than fair coverage of ALL the candidates who are seriously running for the presidency!
And Ron Paul is SERIOUSLY running!
Please keep on contacting the media, to let your voice be heard! “We, the People” have a right and a duty to demand redress.”
Be as polite as possible, but please don’t EVER buy into the fallacious and manipulative argument sometimes thrown at Ron Paul supporters (as it has ALWAYS been thrown at non-consensus movements throughout history, which the establishment wanted to silence), that we are somehow at fault for speaking our minds . . . that somehow, if we would just stop our impassioned complaining, then suddenly the wrongs that our complaints expose, would all be made right–if we would just be good little minions, and go sit quietly in the corner! That is a sinister tactic, intended to silence your political voice and the loud cry of an enlivened Freedom Revolution! Our opponents, and the complacent establishment bosses, know all too well that:
