Ron Paul Tea Party Starts with a Bang
The Ron Paul Tea Party '07 money bomb started with a bang -- $100,000 donated in the first ten minutes. If that rate could be maintained for the entire twenty-four-hour period, the Tea Party would bring in over fourteen million dollars. Of course, the rate will probably slow down over night, before picking up again in the morning.
According to screen shots captured by members of RonPaulForums.com, the day started with a balance of $11,552,561.57 raised for the fourth quarter.
12:20 AM EST: The $10,000 per minute pace is being maintained, with over $200,000 added so far, bringing the total up to $11.77 million.
12:37 AM EST: The first $300,000 is in the bank. By way of comparison, the November 5th money bomb didn't hit $300,000 until three hours into the event, with one million dollars reached shortly after 9 AM EST. The pace has slowed down slightly after the initial surge, now projecting out to $11.7 million.
1:00 AM EST: The total for the first hour clocks in at $383,000, which would be a $9.2 million day if the rate is maintained.
1:11 AM EST, December 16th: The Ron Paul campaign reaches their $12 million dollar fourth-quarter goal two weeks early. The "Raising to Win" graphic shows Kevin Cope of Lake Jackson, Texas, as the meter ticked over to $12,000,000.00. If the name of the town sounds familiar, that's because it's Ron Paul's home!
1:28 AM EST: At $536,000 and counting, December 16th is now the second-best fundraising day of the campaign, just 88 minutes in. At this rate, the 24-hour total would reach $8.8 million.
