A very special 51st

We know that many of you already are aware that Friday is Ron and Carol's 51st wedding anniversary. We thought now might be a nice time to share a little bit of their wedding story, from the words of Carol Paul.

"I actually came into the picture about 1952 when Ron was my escort to my 16th birthday party. Don't tell anyone - but I asked him... actually my birthday is February 29th and it was a Sadie Hawkins-type party where the girls asked the boys... and I asked him.

...

"We went away to college (different colleges in different states), but always kept in touch. On February 1, 1957, we married in a beautiful ceremony with the bridesmaids carrying armloads of red roses. The flower girl wore a white dress and sprinkled rose petals down the aisle. A fraternity brother of Ron's sang "The Wedding Prayer" and the "Lord's Prayer." Both are very special to us, even today.

"We spent his last semester in college married, and living on the third floor of an old home in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. For one year Ron was manager of the college coffee shop called "The Bullet Hole." He worked as steward and house manager for his fraternity, and had a small scholastic scholarship to help finance his way through college.

You can read more about Ron and Carol's life story in her article, "The American Dream," on our website.

For those of you who will be contributing on Friday in honor of Ron and Carol's many loving years together, we've included an added bonus: Everyone who contributes at least $201 (since Friday is, after all, 2/01) will get to write a personalized anniversary message to Ron and Carol!

In the coming days, we'll display some of these messages on our website, and we're also going to present every one of them, along with your names, as a gift to Ron and Carol!

Thank you in advance for your help in giving Ron Paul one big fundraising and media push before Super Tuesday! https://www.ronpaul2008.com/donate

Now Is the Time! Bombs Away! Feb 1 Money Bomb

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Df1n-0K5apk

Now is the time to knock one home for liberty!  Don't ease up now, we are at the point of urgency!

Tomorrow--Feb 1--is a money bomb of many names, but of one purpose--to give Ron Paul the staying power to last throughout the primary season, which, despite Super Tuesday, has several months left!  I should know.  My state doesn't have its primary until May!

Here's a message from Trevor Lyman:

We have power.

The Ron Paul community is pretty amazing isn’t it? In just five days we’ve worked together to sign up almost 4,000 pledges to donate on February 1st in honor of Ron and Carol Paul’s 51st wedding anniversary. Many more than this will give on that day.

Can the media ignore Ron Paul in a two person republican debate?

Supporting the Ron Paul candidacy means more now than it ever has before. Huckabee and McCain have very little money left. If they don’t do well on Super Tuesday they will both drop out. Ron Paul will stay.

Just a little bit more effort and we’ll have the media pulpit for Ron Paul (and the freedom message) that we have been dreaming of since the very start of our efforts.

Give all you can on February 1st. We’re just about to knock this thing out of the park.

Please tell everyone you know about http://www.FiftyOneYears.com

Sincerely,

Trevor Lyman

And JUSTICE FOR ALL??? Is Our Voting System JUST???

We need a more robust and FAIR electoral system than we now have in America.  By that, I mean one that carefully counts ALL votes, and does not allow the few to decide for the many, as our present primary/caucus system enables.

How does our present system enable the few to decide for the many, you ask?  By allowing a VERY few state elections to unduly influence the ability of equal citizens in OTHER states to have any say AT ALL, in whom they will have an opportunity to vote for!  Presently the MAJORITY of voters in America are being disenfranchised by our skewed system!

You might think that, being a Ron Paul supporter, I would be happy that the field of candidates for president has been drastically narrowing this early in the primary game (even before the so-called "Super Tuesday"!), because it leaves fewer opponents of Ron Paul remaining in the lineup.  While I am happy for the reduced field, I am NOT happy about what the rapid reduction--LONG before my state, and many others, have even had a chance to weigh in on the choices--says about our election process.  The fact that so many have dropped out, based solely upon the decisions of a VERY FEW VOTERS, gives THOSE VOTERS a super-voter status, and it discriminates unjustly against the voters in MANY remaining states who, given the chance, might have chosen very differently.

Is it truly democratic to elect our leaders based upon privileged isolation voters, whose over-weighted decisions prematurely drive out many valid candidates, thus preventing the majority from having any say about THOSE candidates?  I think NOT!  It is no more fair than when media outlets discriminate prematurely (at ANY step in the process) against ANY candidate who happens to show poorly at one time or in one particular region.  The net effect of both of these inequities is that equal justice under law--election law--is subverted.  Some citizens--the majority, in fact--are effectively DENIED AN EQUAL VOTE with a very few other unlawfully powerful citizens (and in the case of media outlets, even NON-citizens, such as Rupert Murdoch).

I find this unjust enough, that I would even call it unconstitutional discrimination, and I challenge any serious lawyers reading this, to please consider challenging this corrupt system all the way to the Supreme court, for democracy's sake.  America--the beacon of liberty and democracy in recent centuries--deserves a more fair, robust and equitable voting system than it presently enjoys!

I also strongly urge Ron Paul and ALL OF THE REMAINING CANDIDATES not to even consider dropping out of seeking their party's nomination, until EVERY STATE GETS AN OPPORTUNITY TO BE FULLY COUNTED AND ENFRANCHISED!  It's only fair!  Of course it will matter little to me on a PERSONAL basis, since I'm voting Ron Paul NO MATTER WHAT, but so many others fatally look about them to see what OTHERS are doing, rather than voting truly conscientiously.  These weaker-willed follower voters are unduly influenced by the present undemocratic system, and they are too easily herded about by the king-like power brokers in the shadows of de-MOCKERY-cy.

Liberty Dollar DRACO FBI Update

So much for the Feds trying to destroy the maker of the Ron Paul dollar with their draconian unconstitutional theft of last fall, directed by the same Neocons who are now supporting John McCain and Mitt Romney!  (see

This latest update from Liberty Dollar (to find past updates, use the blog's search function):

January 30. 2008

Dear Liberty Dollar Supporters:

FLASH: I am pleased to announce that we are in discussions with a noted attorney in Boise, Idaho to secure the return of the material seized by the FBI at Sunshine Mint, Fulfillment office in Evansville, printers in California and material in Asheville, North Carolina. We will announce this development asap.

Please note it now appears that we will pursue a Class Action Lawsuit. If you have any paper certificates or digital Liberty Dollars you were damaged. Please sign up for the Class Action Lawsuit at: http://www.libertydollar.org/classaction/index.php. This will also entitle you to be a Liberty Associate for FREE when we move up to the new $50 Silver Base.

The new 2008 Silver Liberty Dollar with a face value of $20 is HOT!!! Seems like with all the added publicity from the Raid and sharply higher silver prices, the market is hot for Liberty Dollars. Of course, I never wished for the Raid, but we are certainly making lemonade out of that lemon! And you should too. In fact, many people are making a lot more than lemons or peanuts on eBay with the Liberty Dollar.

PRICING: As silver is over $16 per ounce and we are quickly advancing into the 45 day slot to Move Up to the $50 Silver Base, the one ounce $20 Liberty Dollar is currently Spot + $5. While this pricing is for everybody at this time, after the Liberty Dollar Moves Up, only Liberty Associates and Merchants will receive the commissioned rate and profit. All non-Associates will exchange at face value without the commission. You are strongly urged to take a stand for value and become a Liberty Associate for FREE by joining the Class Action Lawsuit as the cost to become a Liberty Associate at the $50 base will be $500!

Announcing the 2008 Arrest Dollar. Thank you for your interest and orders for the specially hallmarked Arrest Dollar on previously issued Liberty Dollars. As that material is now exhausted the price has risen from $30 to $40 and will probably be $50 soon. So as I have not been arrested…. yet… and I still need to raise money for our legal expenses, I am pleased to announce the 2008 Arrest Dollar - a new 2008 Liberty Dollar with the famous "Handcuff" hallmark is now available at the introductory price of $30 each. Please mail your order with your check or money order made out to BERNARD to 225 N. Stockwell Road. Evansville. Indiana. 47715. This offer is for a limited time… limited until I am arrested… or will be re-priced as silver rises. Please order now at only $30 each and help support our legal defense fund.

So what is a regular Brilliant Uncirculated 2008 Silver Liberty Dollar worth? Would you believe $41.00?! Just ask Dave Gillie because that is what he got on eBay! The Liberty Dollar is now trading over face value! Check out Dave Gillie's eBay store at: http://stores.ebay.com/Dave-Gillies-Silver-Liberty-norfed for more high-end Liberty Dollars.

But you don't have to pay $40 bucks for a $20 Silver Liberty Dollar! Order direct from the National Fulfillment office for only $5 over spot. Spot is published and updated hourly on the Liberty Dollar home page at www.LibertyDollar.org. Print out this Order Form and mail your check or money order made out to BERNARD to Liberty Dollar, 225 N. Stockwell Road, Evansville, Indiana. 47715. Shipping and Handling is $6 (up to 12 items) $1 of each additional item. Also consider becoming a Liberty Associate before the currency Moves Up to the $50 Base.

WAIT… GOOD NEWS: The Shopping Cart is back up with AlertPay, PayPal's chief competitor. It is now easier to get the Liberty Dollar! Unfortunately at this time they are upgrading their card services. So to use AlertPay, you need to open an account and link it to your bank account. This is easily done but takes a couple days to verify your bank account. So please go to http://www.alertpay.com.

Unfortunately, with only Sarah on hand, the phone service is seriously limited so we cannot take phone orders…. very easily. If you wish to order by mail, please send a check or money order made out to BERNARD. We will ship asap… currently about three weeks. Order Form should be included and can be downloaded HERE.

To PayPal's credit, they finally returned all funds for Liberty Dollars ordered on our shopping cart using PayPal… except for the eight people who filed a dispute. It only took two weeks, countless emails and eight long phone callsL! We are working to get the last eight disputed claims paid ASAP.

So, with higher metal prices, is this the worst time to get Liberty Dollars? NO!!! This is the best time! This is the time to bet the farm on silver and get as many Silver Libertys as possible. The Liberty Dollar "brand" has broken out of the "currency" mode and become "bullion" with a Mission… to return our country to value… the same values established by our Founding Fathers… the same values that Ron Paul campaigns on… the same value that made America great… and hand you a fortune!

Best time or worst time to get Liberty Dollars? Just look at the 30 day moving average (30 DMA) for silver. On Friday, January 25 it was $15.29. Check it out for yourself at: http://www.scotiamocatta.com/prec/pdfs/pm_daily.pdf. The Liberty Dollar will Move Up to the $50 Silver Base when the 30 day moving average stays over $16 for 45 consecutive calendar days. Liberty Dollar could enter that slot in less than 30 days!

Doesn't it just make sense that when the underlying commodity that backs the currency increases in value, shouldn't the purchasing power of that currency also increase in value? Of course. And isn't that the essence of an inflation proof currency? Absolutely! Tell a friend about the Liberty Dollar… let the fun begin!

Bottom line… this IS the best time to get the Liberty Dollar… BEFORE it Moves Up!

Have you ever wished you had lived during the American Revolutionary War? Yes, it was an exciting and historic time. But very few Americans actually participated then and it is not much different now. But if you ever yearned to be a part of American history… this is your opportunity. "What is that?" you ask. Opening a Regional Currency Office (RCO) and actively distributing the Liberty Dollar. Currently, 15 brave men have taken the stand to have their own Hallmark made and are actively distributing the Liberty Dollar. All across the country, "Good Americans" are doing what is right to get America back on track with the ideals of our Founding Fathers. Will you be one? Would you have joined the first American Revolution? Will you open a RCO and help return American to value - one Liberty Dollar at a time? I so pray.

Click HERE to see the Original 15 Hallmarks by the brave men who have chosen to stand for value at this dark moment of the Liberty Dollar. Please consider opening a RCO and getting a custom Hallmark for your town, family, business, church, organization, almost anything and use the Liberty Dollar today. Or collect all 15 Hallmarked Liberty Dollars by contacting one of the RCOs. For the serious collector a Limited Numbered Edition is also available. You can collect one or all 15 by contacting a RCO or the Evansville office. Prices for the special LNE vary. This is a limited time offer. Please take action now.

The federal government is accused of gold-price manipulation in a full page ad past Thursday in the Wall Street Journal by my friends at GATA: http://www.freedomsphoenix.com/Find-Freedom.htm?At=029310&From=News

Looking for a good source for unbiased info about the coin collecting and the metals market? Of course we all go to Kitco.com but I also prefer to read "Liberty Outlook" by Pat Heller. Liberty Outlook is published by Liberty Coin Service, a bullion and numismatic coin dealer in Lansing, Michigan. 800.527.2375. Please mention the Liberty Dollar when you call and encourage them to find some courage and start dealing in Liberty Dollars! To their credit, Pat recently mentioned the Liberty Dollar as the Ninth Factor supporting the precious metals boom.

Understandably tempers run high, especially when you send in money and don't get your order. I certainly understand! As I have said before, my number one job is getting your money back and filling your order. So I am very happy to announce that PayPal recently returned over $30,000 to people who ordered Liberty Dollars from our shopping cart using PayPal. But that does not stop the flood of angry emails asking about their orders. Often this spills over into the public ALD Forum users group. Here is an unsolicited, typical inquiry and response by Dave Gillie who operates a RCO in Michigan:

QUESTION: Why would you support an organization (LIBERTY DOLLAR) that steals from the so called people it wants to help? My reason, I purchased from them (LIBERTY DOLLAR) and they have not delivered my order, refuse to contact me, return my calls or e-mails, and are now they (LIBERTY DOLLAR) wants to sell me and everyone else more, give me a break.

RESPONSE: IN CASE you really want an answer, here it is:

I agree that Liberty Dollar is responsible for delivering what they were paid for (or refund). I strongly *disagree* that when a FORCE completely outside of their control forcibly and illegally interferes with their business that it constitutes "stealing" in ANY way.

I DO support LD in their effort to get their and yours and MY STUFF back. I'm not so naive to think that they are a magic turnip that can possibly replace the material now that their product AND money was all been seized.

Remembering the SERENITY PRAYER, there ARE some things they can do (hence the legal defense fund) and some things that are absolutely impossible (fill orders and/or refund them at this time).

The contact problem is understandable IMO, but I agree that they should at least post more info on their website. Note, there IS a TON there now. So all their past and current customers really should know what's going on.

As to currently selling more material? I can see how that would irritate a past customer who didn't get the stuff they paid for. However, ya gotta keep in mind that they are NOT using money that should be refunded (IMO) because (1.) the new 2008's don't even involve LD (other than they allow use of copyrighted material). RCOs get them *directly* from the mints scattered around the country. (2.) Hallmarked items LD is selling have been DONATED back to LD to raise funds for their LEGAL fight to get theirs and mine AND YOUR stuff back.

In fact, a fraud WOULD occur if they took donations for legal fund and used it for other purposes, like refund past customers, as you seem to want.

Hope this answers your question. And I hope you will support the Liberty Dollar, they need our help to get everything back.

DaveGillie: http://www.GilliesConeyisland.com/

Thank you Dave for coming to Liberty Dollar's defense. I couldn't have said it better.

Chick HERE for a great little sermon on Dishonest Scales by Rev. Larry Beane.

As we prepare to Move Up to the $50 Silver Base… the "Collectors Special" two ounce $50 Pietfort is in the works with a custom Hallmark. Please let me know if you are interested in this special, limited issue. The obverse die will feature a special "deep dish" ultra high relief portrait of Lady Liberty. This specimen will be a showstopper!

Please order a 2008 Silver Liberty Dollar online today. We have no idea when an indictment will be issued and the Liberty Dollar will be silenced. Please take action before it is too late. We need your support now, please. Only $5 over spot plus shipping.

Thanks again for your support, donations and orders - Liberty Dollar lives!

How To Win The Ground War

This from the Ron Paul campaign:

January 30, 2008

We received this message this morning from a Ron Paul supporter in Florida. Because it is so important, we are sharing it with you, too.

I wanted to share my experience canvassing here in Broward County, South Florida.

As you know, Dr. Paul took 3% of the vote yesterday in Florida. A friend and I signed up on the campaign's website to be a precinct leader, and took it upon ourselves to canvass 13 precincts in Broward County. I'm proud to report that in the precincts that we canvassed, Dr. Paul came in second to John McCain.

That's right; Dr. Paul beat Romney, Giuliani and Huckabee. This happened with almost NO media coverage of Dr. Paul. It's particularly noteworthy, because Broward County is a stronghold of Rudy Giuliani.

We know of other Dr. Paul supporters in Broward County who were waving Dr. Paul's signs, but they did not do that well in their precincts. Sign waving does NOT get votes, BUT PRECINCT WORK DOES GET VOTES!!! Please do the precinct work in your area so that Dr. Paul will win. God Bless You.

Help us by signing up today to be a precinct leader in your area. If you really want to make Ron Paul our next president, sign up and begin canvassing right away. You're counting on Ron Paul to do his part, and he's counting on you to do yours.

This is work that any dedicated supporter can do, and, along with donating, is the most important thing you can do to ensure a Ron Paul victory.

Sign up yourself, and then encourage all your friends to sign up here: https://voters.ronpaul2008.com.

Ron Paul Strong in Final Four Debate

With less than one week to go until Super Tuesday, Ron Paul succeeded once again in distinguishing himself from the competition, repeating his familiar campaign themes of a wise foreign policy, sound monetary policy, limited Constitutional government, and freedom. CNN tried in vain to make it a Romney vs. McCain debate, but Huckabee's repeated objections to their obvious bias and Ron Paul's powerful answers to his handful of questions saved what was otherwise the worst-run debate of the campaign.

A summary of Ron Paul's responses:

1. Are we worse off than 8 years ago? Of course we are, and Ron Paul noted that there is plenty of blame to go around, to the President, the Congress, and our flawed monetary system. He questioned the supposed need to spend a trillion dollars per year propping up an empire we can no longer afford, and reminded Americans that it is always the middle class that gets wiped out when a currency collapses.

2. Should California be allowed to set its own emissions standards? As usual, Ron Paul deferred to Constitutional federalism, saying the decision was rightly California's, but he also stressed the importance of defending property rights, something that was forgotten during the Industrial Revolution as big business colluded with big government to set pollution regulations favorable to corporations.

3. Are government infrastructure projects better than tax rebates? When Mike Huckabee expressed a preference for big public works projects for stimulating the economy over tax rebates that are going to be supplied with money borrowed from China, Ron Paul asked the obvious question -- Where is the money for the infrastructure going to come from? He questioned why we pay to bomb bridges in Iraq, then pay to rebuild them, when we can't afford to fix our own bridges here at home.

4. Should Reagan have appointed Sandra Day O'Connor? Ron Paul explained that he wouldn't have, because he would prefer a more strict Constitutionalist. Anderson Cooper inexplicably cut him off at that point, despite beginning the debate with a statement that there wouldn't be any time limits.

5. Should we leave the troops in Iraq for 100 years, like McCain suggested? This was a softball from a friendly supporter on Politico.com, and Dr. Paul knocked it out of the park. He reminded the audience that our inflationary recession of the 1970's was caused by the government borrowing to fund both guns and butter -- war and welfare -- and that we are headed in the same direction today. His response earned the biggest applause of the night, for any candidate.

6. What qualifies you to manage the economy and the military? Rather than describing the American people as pawns on a chessboard, like Romney and Huckabee did, Ron Paul emphasized that under the Constitution, the President isn't supposed to manage the economy -- the American people should do that, and the government should get out of the way. As for being Commander in Chief, he suggested that directing a wise foreign policy and avoiding unnecessary wars was far more important than directing troop movements. This was his best answer of the night, setting himself apart as the only remaining presidential candidate who truly believes in freedom and the Constitution.

7. Would Ronald Reagan endorse you? Ron Paul pointed with pride to the fact that Ronald Reagan did endorse him, in his 1978 Congressional race, and that he was one of only four Congressmen who actually endorsed Reagan in 1976, when Reagan was considered a fringe candidate with kooky ideas like reducing the size of government. Then he played his trump card, educating the Reagan worshipers at the table to the fact that Ronald Reagan supported sound monetary policy, and knew that no great country had ever remained great after going off the gold standard.

Here's the full transcript.

NTU Report: Ron Paul would cut Budget by $150 billion a year

The National Taxpayers Union looks at Ron Paul’s policy proposals, and finds that if implemented, the federal budget would be cut by at least $150 billion a year.

NTU analysis of Congressman Paul’s proposals @ http://www.ntu.org/pdf/P0801Paul_Analysis.pdf

Study: Presidential Frontrunners Would Boost Federal Budget

“Presidential contenders have been busy portraying their political differences from others inside and outside of their parties, but when it comes to fiscal policy, ideological labels don’t necessarily apply. That’s just one finding of a comprehensive study from the National Taxpayers Union Foundation (NTUF), which provides cost estimates — based on hard data — for more than 450 of the major candidates’ proposals that would affect the federal budget.”

NTUF looked at proposals by 8 candidates for President, and found:

  • The eight candidates proposed a combined total of 189 items that would increase federal spending, 24 items that would decrease it, and 238 items whose budgetary impacts are unknown — in addition to dozens of sub-items further detailing program components. The four respective frontrunners in the two parties (John McCain, Mitt Romney, Hillary Clinton, and Barack Obama), proposed overall fiscal policy agendas whose net effect would raise annual federal outlays between $6.9 billion and $287.0 billion.
  • The top-tier GOP candidates often portrayed as “conservative” (Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee) actually called for significantly larger spending hikes ($19.5 billion and $54.2 billion, respectively), than the so-called “moderate conservative” (John McCain, $6.9 billion).
  • Among Democrats, Barack Obama, often described as ideologically more “moderate” than Hillary Clinton, actually has the larger agenda of the two ($287.0 billion vs. $218.2 billion).
  • Defense-related spending items received the highest proposed spending increases among Republican candidates. Huckabee and Romney, for example, offered $67.2 billion and $40.6 billion, respectively. Among Democrats, Clinton’s biggest boost goes toward health care ($113.6 billion) and Obama’s for economy, transportation, and infrastructure ($105.0 billion).

Libertarian Party reiterates its call for Iraq withdrawal

After Monday’s State of the Union address delivered by President George W. Bush, the Libertarian Party is renewing its call for a safe and timely troop withdrawal from Iraq.  “President Bush’s State of the Union address once again emphasized his desire to remain in Iraq without any finite objective or operational goal,” says William Redpath, chairman of the Libertarian Party.

“While we are pleased to see a decline in violence in Iraq, this should by no means become a mandate for sustaining our presence in the country,” says Redpath. “We were wrong for invading Iraq, and we as a country have paid for that mistake in dollars and blood.  Our obligation is not to Iraq, or any other nation in the world.  Our obligation is to our soldiers: to keep them as safe as possible and to use them only in the direct defense of our nation.  Each day we remain in Iraq is a rebuke of the promise we have made to the members of our Armed Forces.”
